The story of President of India: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

Today I am going to tell you a story about a boy who sold newspaper to earn money and now a days he is a role model for every young boy and girl.

That boy's name is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
His full name is Avul Pakhir Jainulabdeen Apdul Kalam.

He was born in a middle class Tamil family in the island town of Rameswaram Madras state.

When he was a child of 8 years, second World war broke out, in 1939. That time his family left money and so he collected tamarind (eemli) seeds  and sell them to a provision shop on Mosque Street to earn one anna as the demand for tamarind was raised.

As India was forced to join the World war 2 because of the British rule, his brother Shamsuddin now has to collect the bunches of newspaper that were thrown from the train. As he needed a helping hand Abdul Kalam filled this slot. In this way, Abdul Kalam's brother helped him to earn his first major wages.

Abdul Kalam inherited honesty and self discipline from his father and faith in goodness and deep kindness from his mother.

The New Teacher

One day, when he was in fifth standard, in a elementary school, a new teacher came to his school.

Abdul Kalam always sat beside his friend named Ramanadha Sastry, the son of Pakshi Lakshmana Sastry, the high priest of Rameshwaram Temple. Abdul Kalam used to wear cap which mark him as a Muslim and his friend Ramanadha Sastry wear a scared thread which mark him as a Hindu.

Teacher which came that day, could not digest of Muslim boy sitting with a Hindu priest's son. Abdul Kalam was awarded by the teacher to go and seat on to last bench. He just both by thier social ranking. Both of the them were crying, they were weeping with sorrow.

After school they went home and told their respective parents about the incidence. Lakshman Sastry summoned that teacher and told the teacher, "You should not spread the poison of social inequality and communal intolerance in the minds of innocent children.", in our presence. The New Teacher was asked either to apologize or to leave the school and island forever. This ultimately reform the young teacher and made him regret on his behaviour.

Dinner in a Hindu House

On the whole, our society was very strict in the terms of segregating different social groups.

His favourite teacher Sivasubramanya Iyer, and orthodox Brahmin, to try their best to break the social barriers so that the people from different backgrounds can mingle easily. He used to spend hours with Abdul Kalam and I would say, "Kalam I want you to develop so that you are on par with highly educated people of the big cities."

One day he invited Abdul Kalam for male in his house. his wife said it was a terrible idea to invite a Muslim boy to dine in her ritually pure kitchen. She really refused him. Sivasubramanya Iyer did not scolded his wife now he did get angry with his wife but instead he served Abdul Kalam with his own hands and sat beside him to eat his meal.

His wife for standing and kitchen doors and watching them. Abdul Kalam thought whether she noticed in his way of eating, the way he ate rice, drank water, and cleaned the floor after meal.

When I was about to leave, Sivasubramanya Iyer again invited me e to join him for the dinner again the next weekend. He observed my hesitation and said, "Once you decide to change the system, such problems have to be confronted."

When Abdul Kalam visited is Houston next weekend for dinner, Sivasubramanya Iyer's I also took me inside her ritually pure kitchen and served him food with her own hands. Apdul Kalam was happy to see this and satisfied too.

These were some of the childhood stories of APJ Abdul Kalam.

Later when, A P J Abdul Kalam grew up, he was honoured with various awards like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna. He also served as the president of India from 2002 to 2007.

Solve the problem, or  leave the problem, don't live with the problem.
